The Jhang district administration is organising the first-ever Jhang Desert Rally and a three-day cultural festival from the ninth of next month to promote tourism and showcase the district’s rich culture and heritage.

Jhang Deputy Commissioner Babar Sahib Din announced this while addressing a press conference at the starting point of the Jhang Desert Rally and Cultural Festival.

He said the rally would feature various categories, including women’s, stock and veterans, besides bike racing and other competitive activities.

He said the district administration aims to showcase the unique features of Jhang on a wider platform and promote the district as an emerging tourist destination.

The Deputy Commissioner said around one hundred of Pakistan’s finest and most experienced drivers and riders from across the country, along with tourists from different parts of the world, were expected to participate in the rally.

The participants will cover a 95-kilometre desert track through the Thal region, combining competitive racing with the area’s natural landscape.

He said the three-day event will feature desert rally racing, Thal cultural activities, horse riding, traditional dances, folk music, kabaddi, volleyball, a musical night and other recreational activities.
