UN special rapporteur on human rights in Myanmar, Yanghee Lee, has expressed concern over the escalating conflict in northern and central Rakhine and Chin States of this country and called for protection of civilians in the region.

In a statement, she said that violence against the people of Rakhine continues and she is seriously concerned about the dangerous rhetoric being used by Myanmar government.

Lee urged the government not to block humanitarian aid to the Rakhine region.
