Experts at the United Nations Human Rights Council have raised grave concern over violence against minorities, media, and civil society in India.             

In a joint statement, these experts noted with dismay how vigilante groups carried out acts of violence, arbitrary killings, and demolitions of minority homes and official agencies have been misused.                     

They said the situation will deteriorate further ahead of the general elections in India.

The experts have urged the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to continuously monitor the human rights situation in India.
