Tahir Khan (Expert on Afghan Affairs): Despite the ongoing tensions and misunderstandings between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the world acknowledges the role of Pakistan in providing shelter to over three million Afghan refugees. The foreign aid for Afghan refugees is very less and Pakistan is bearing the economic burden of refugees from its own resources. It is also a fact that with shrinking international support to Afghan refugees in Pakistan, it will be hard for the country to bear such a big refugee population with its limited resources. The Afghan government should also respond positively for this goodwill gesture of Pakistan.
