Amb. A M Shahid (Former Diplomat):Situation in Middle East is getting graver and graver with the passage of each day; so nothing can be said about the future of Mideast. Unfortunately, both the US and Iran have intensified their strikes against each other. In this context telephonic contact between Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Turkiye Hakan Fidan is very significant. Pakistan and Turkiye are plying best possible diplomacy to defuse escalation in Middle East. At the same time, situation in Palestine has also further aggravated due to the continued aggression and violence of Israeli government and settlers. So DPM Dar and FM Fidan exchanged views on recent regional and international developments, with particular focus on the grave situation in Palestine. Actually, Muslim countries are worried about the situation in Palestine because Israel is continuously occupying more and more Palestinian territories with the passage of each day. On this issue, Jordan has called for a meeting of Muslim and Arab countries on the worsening situation in Gaza and West Bank. United States, OIC and Arab countries support two-state solution to Palestine issue. However, we can’t expect any such outcome until Netanyahu is in power in Israel. It is fact that durable peace in Middle East is not possible without two-state solution to Palestine issue.
