Mirwaiz denounces curtailment of freedom of expression, religion in IIOJK

In Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has strongly denounced curtailment of the fundamental freedom of expression and religion.

Addressing a gathering in Srinagar, he lamented that even during the holy month of Ramadan, he is being frequently placed under house arrest to prevent him from having access to mosques.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq  pointed out that a couple of days earlier he was not allowed to preside over a commemorative function to mark the anniversary of late Mirwaiz Mohammad Yusuf Shah in Srinagar.

He asked the occupation authorities to desist from pursuing this cycle of unexplained restrictions and allow him to continue his religious work.

He also demanded the release of all political prisoners languishing in different jails of India and In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Following the revocation of Kashmir’s special status in August 2019, the Modi regime has intensified repression against innocent Kashmiris and imposed more curbs on them to suppress their political, religious, social and economic freedoms.

On the other hand, a joint team of Indian army and police launched a cordon and search operation in different areas of Dharamsal in Rajouri district, today.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front paid glowing tributes to prominent resistance leaders Ashfaq Majeed Wani, Shabbir Siddiqui and other Kashmiri martyrs.

The organization reiterated the resolve of the Kashmiris to continue pursuing the sacred cause of martyrs till attaining freedom from Indian slavery.

Ashfaq Majeed Wani was martyred by the Indian troops in Hawal area of Srinagar on 30 March 1990.

Six years later, on the same day, the troops martyred Shabbir Siddiqui along with his over a dozen comrades in Hazratbal area of Srinagar.
