June 29, 2026

The Taliban regime's coercive policies and struggle for control over resources have pushed Afghanistan to the brink of another civil war.

The growing rift between the Taliban regime and former Deputy Governor Juma Khan Fateh has evolved into a serious military and political crisis.

According to Afghanistan International, the rebel Tajik commander has significantly stepped up combat preparations against the Taliban in Badakhshan.

The report states that Juma Khan has accelerated consultations with local tribal elders while simultaneously organizing his fighting force.

Despite offers from the Taliban regime for negotiations and a new official position, Juma Khan has rejected returning to the government's ranks.

According to Afghanistan International, Juma Khan has placed his forces on high alert and ensured they are fully prepared both militarily and logistically.
