90 people injured in firing by Indian forces in occupied Kashmir

In occupied Kashmir, more than 90 people have been injured, some of them critically, in firing by Indian forces on people protesting against the cordon and search operation launched by the troops in Tazipora area of Kulgam district, today.

The troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the protesters, injuring over six dozen of them. Many of the injured were admitted to Kulgam hospital, while four hit with pellets and bullets were referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.

The Chairman Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has denounced the use of pellet guns and other human rights violations by Indian forces in the territory.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar, said that the Human rights abuses, including the use of pellet guns only exacerbates the situation on ground rather than improving it.

He also said that the Kashmir dispute could only be resolved politically and not militaristically.

On the other hand the authorities suspended mobile internet services in the district. Intense clashes were also reported during a cordon and search operation at Pinjura village in Shopian district.

Meanwhile, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one Kashmiri youth in Kulgam district.
