President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed government's commitment to ensuring the provision of accurate and authentic information to citizens and safeguarding the right to access information.

In their separate messages on International Day for Universal Access to Information, being observed today, they said access to information is a fundamental right and a cornerstone of a transparent, accountable, and informed society.

President Asif Ali Zardari, in his message, said the rapid growth of digital platforms, artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies has changed the way information is produced, distributed and consumed.

He stressed that citizens must be able to obtain reliable information from credible sources, particularly on matters that directly affect their lives.

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government is taking measures to further strengthen effective communication between public institutions and citizens by harnessing modern technologies and digital platforms.

He said the process of digitizing records of government offices and institutions is underway to ensure their preservation and facilitation for public access.
