Iran and the United States will restart their stalled talks, aimed at restoring a landmark 2015 nuclear accord, in Qatar with mediation by the European Union.

Newly appointed spokesman of the Iranian foreign ministry, Nasser Kanani, told Iranian official website that Tehran’s Chief negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani will travel to Doha on Tuesday for the talks.

Iran has maintained that, it wants to make sure that the economic benefits promised under the original deal should be guaranteed during the negotiations.

The US wants to restore the deal to reinstate curbs on Iran’s nuclear programme, which Tehran insists is peaceful.
