April 28, 2025

Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to further deepen bilateral cooperation under the Pak-UK Green Compact framework for climate action.

The understanding was reached during meeting between a British delegation led by Development Director of British High Commission Jo Moir and Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik in Islamabad on Monday.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to achieve the goals of the Green Compact which is a bilateral framework between Pakistan and UK for joint action on climate change, biodiversity, and green economic growth.

The Minister welcomed UK's continued technical and financial assistance, particularly through innovative financing tools and capacity-building programs.

The British High Commission's Development Director highlighted UK's commitment to mobilize climate finance for Pakistan and other vulnerable countries.

She said the Green Compact is designed to catalyze private sector investment, promote research partnerships, and support policy dialogue on de-carbonization, climate resilience, and clean energy transition.

The two sides agreed to operationalize the Green Compact through a joint Annual Action Plan, with quarterly reviews to monitor progress.
