Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has directed the Interior Ministry to take action against those responsible for the violence against journalists during appearance of PTI Chief Imran Khan before Islamabad High Court.

He issued the direction during joint session of the Parliament, after the journalists staged a walkout from the Press Gallery to protest the government’s failure in taking action against those involved in the violence against them and their other grievances.

The Speaker said the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information is considering the issue of non-payment of salaries to journalists and the journalists would be given representation in it.
