Govt to support young innovators with feasible climate-related business ideas: Musadik
January 28, 2026

Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik says the government is introducing new institutional mechanisms to support young innovators with viable green and climate-related business ideas by providing them access to funding.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan Lahore Correspondent Ghulam Haider, he said that dedicated centers are being established to prepare international-standard climate projects, enabling Pakistan to access global climate finance more effectively.

He praised provincial initiatives, particularly in Punjab, including the Green Credit Program, promotion of electric vehicles, cycling initiatives, women empowerment projects, and the Suthra Punjab program.

He noted that smog levels have been reduced this year due to the efforts of the Punjab government, reflecting improved coordination and policy implementation.

The Minister highlighted that Pakistan has intensified its climate diplomacy to raise awareness in the international community about the unequal impacts of climate change and the responsibility of major carbon emitters. Pakistan, he said, is actively presenting its case at every global forum.

Rising carbon emissions, he explained, lead to higher temperatures, glacier melting, and devastating floods, directly affecting countries that contribute very little to global emissions.

Musadik said climate compensation should be provided in the form of grants rather than loans, as additional debt burdens undermine spending on essential sectors such as health and education.
