The United Nations human rights experts have warned that people of African descent in the United Kingdom continue to encounter discrimination and erosion of their fundamental rights.

In a statement at the end of official visit to UK, the UN Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent said racism in the United Kingdom is structural, institutional and systemic.  

The UN experts expressed serious concerns about impunity and the failure to address racial disparities in the criminal justice system and deaths in police custody.

The Human Rights Council-appointed experts said they have gathered evidence of the all-too-real trauma felt by people of African descent suffering from racial discrimination and injustice.
