Kashmiris observing Black Day today
October 27, 2026

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world are observing Black Day today to draw the world's attention to the impending catastrophe due to continued illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, it was on this day in 1947 that Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the partition plan and against the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference, in a statement in Srinagar, has urged Kashmiris in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and around the world to observe Black Day today and has appealed for a complete shutdown in the occupied territory.

The leaders of APHC have urged the international community to play its role in settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris' aspirations and relevant UN resolutions.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, protest rallies and seminars will be held at all district and tehsil headquarters to condemn the Indian Army's invasion of October 27, 1947, as well as the revocation of the special status of occupied territory by BJP-led Hindutva government of India on August 5, 2019.

Following directives of the AJK President and Prime Minister, Deputy Commissioners will lead the rallies in their respective districts.

In the state capital, Muzaffarabad, Kashmir Liberation Cell has arranged a protest demonstration followed by a rally.

AJK Prime Minister Iftikhar Gilani will lead the rally.

Similarly, Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmiri refugees, other Hurriyat organizations, and political and religious parties have arranged anti-India rallies and seminars to observe the Black Day.
