Polling for the by-election in National Assembly constituency NA-168 Bahawalpur-V concluded peacefully today.

According to Radio Pakistan's Bahawalpur correspondent, a close contest is expected between PML-N candidate Malik Munir Iqbal Channar and independent candidate Wali Dad Cheema.

The seat fell vacant following the death of PML-N MNA Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar in August. His son, Malik Munir Iqbal Channar, is contesting the by-election as the PML-N candidate.

Polling began at 8:00 a.m. and continued until 5:00 p.m. without any break.

Strict security arrangements were put in place by law enforcement agencies to ensure peaceful conduct of the polling process.
