Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of an eminent nuclear scientist and former Chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Pervez Butt.

In a statement, the Prime Minister paid tribute to Dr. Pervez Butt's invaluable services in strengthening Pakistan's national defence and promoting nuclear science and technology.

He said the late scientist played a pivotal role in laying a strong foundation for the country's nuclear programme and advancing scientific self-reliance.

The Prime Minister said Dr. Pervez Butt's services to the nation would always be remembered with honour and respect.

He also prayed for the elevation of the departed soul's ranks and for strength and patience for the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
