Martyrdom anniversary of Capt. Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed being observed today

The 78th martyrdom anniversary of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, is being observed today.

Raja Muhammad Sarwar was born in Singhori village in Gujjar Khan district on November 10, 1910.

He was commissioned in Punjab Regiment in 1944.

During Kashmir war, he rendered supreme sacrifice for the nation and embraced martyrdom on July 27th, 1948 at Tilpatra in Azad Kashmir.

On 27 July 1948 during the First Kashmir War at Tilpatra, Azad Kashmir, Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed became the first Pakistani to be recipient of Nishan-e-Haider after embracing martyrdom in the line of duty for freedom of Kashmir.

Leading his men from the front, he displayed extraordinary courage, exceptional tactical brilliance and unwavering devotion to duty.

Meanwhile, Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan solemnly commemorate the 78th martyrdom of Captain Muhammad Sarwar Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.

They paid rich tribute to his unparalleled courage, unwavering commitment and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the nation.
