The government and the Oil Tankers Contractors Association have agreed to resolve the issues of oil tanker contractors through mutual consultation.

The agreement was reached during successful talks between Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik and a delegation of the association, led by its President Abidullah Afridi, in Islamabad today.

The Petroleum Minister constituted a high-level committee to address the contractors' concerns. The committee, headed by the Special Secretary for Petroleum, will submit its recommendations within one week.

Speaking on the occasion, Ali Pervaiz Malik directed OGRA to resolve the genuine issues of oil tanker contractors on a priority basis. He also instructed oil marketing companies to submit a written policy on freight contracts.

The Minister further directed OGRA to ensure effective tracking of oil tankers and to keep dealer-owned vehicles separate from primary transportation operations.

He said the government's foremost priority is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel to the public.

The Oil Tanker Contractors Association appreciated the Minister's constructive role and welcomed the formation of the high-level committee.

The delegation also expressed confidence that their issues would be resolved through dialogue.
