
Commissioner Mirpur Division Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan visited various polling stations in Mirpur.
He reviewed the polling process and overall arrangements at different polling stations.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said polling is continuing in a peaceful environment across Mirpur Division. He said security arrangements in Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli are satisfactory.
He said no untoward incident has been reported during polling in Mirpur Division.
The commissioner said that strong voter turnout is expected. He said conducting free, fair and transparent elections is our mission.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of Inspector General of Police in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has said the people of Mirpur Division have demonstrated their confidence in the power of the ballot by participating in the election process rather than resorting to protests.
In a statement, the spokesperson said the people rejected the Action Committee's call for a long march. He said the people's enthusiastic participation in the election process manifests that they want to decide their matters through democratic and constitutional means.
