The National Accountability Bureau Khyber Pakhtunkhwa today arrested Treasurer of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM), Shafiq Ullah and Procurement Officer Pir Asfandyar for their alleged involvement in corruption and embezzlement of the university funds.      

According to a press release of NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, both the accused in connivance with the then Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Ihsan Ali, purchased sub-standard IT and Lab equipment, chemicals and furniture from contractors of their choice in violating government procurement laws. 

It is expected that more persons will be arrested in the case.
