
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received a telephone call today from Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
During their warm and cordial conversation, which lasted around thirty minutes, the two leaders exchanged Eid greetings and conveyed best wishes to each other, the peoples of their two countries, as well as the Muslim Ummah on this joyous occasion.
The Iranian President expressed his profound gratitude to the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for Pakistan’s important role in efforts to bring peace to the region. He appreciated the support of other regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Türkiye, for these peace efforts.
The Prime Minister once again expressed solidarity with the Iranian leadership and people over the loss of precious lives during the current crisis. He appreciated the Iranian President’s kind words for him and his team and said Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had made tireless efforts to help restore peace in the region.
He expressed hope that the peace agreement would be finalized soon with dignity and honour for the Iranian nation. He said this would help unlock Iran’s true economic potential and benefit the entire region.
The Prime Minister said that, as a brotherly and neighbouring country, Pakistan would always stand by Iran and that a bright future awaited both countries once peace is restored in the region.
The two leaders agreed to remain in close coordination with each other.
