Prominent international daily the New York Times says another victory of Narendra Modi led Bharati Janta Party in India will loom a new dread for Muslims and other minorities in the country.

In an article, the paper writes that if Modi wins the election, it will be a victory for validation of mob rule and debasement of 200 million Muslims by a dominant Hindu majority.

The paper depicted the plight of Muslims in India under Narendra Modi’s extremist Hindu government which saw open calls by BJP leaders and their close supporters for genocide of Muslims.

The article mentioned that Islamophobia isn’t new to India, but under Modi’s rule, hatred of Muslims became a state policy.
