
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed provision of comprehensive financial assistance to people living below the poverty line.
Chairing a meeting in Lahore today, she said the government's foremost objective is the welfare and support of the common man. She emphasized that the Social Welfare Department will be transformed into a public-friendly institution on the pattern of European countries.
She said that financial assistance is being extended to low-income groups through the Ration Card scheme.
The Chief Minister directed to establish orphanages for destitute children across Punjab and asked to seek support from credible NGOs for the welfare of women and children.
