The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has restated its enduring stance on the urgent necessity for a fair resolution to the Kashmir dispute.
In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC Spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, called upon the international community, particularly the UN Secretary General, to intervene and urge India to halt its policy of military aggression, human rights violations, and arbitrary detentions in the occupied territory.
The APHC outlined a series of demands directed towards the Indian government, including the withdrawal of troops from occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the unconditional release of political prisoners, the repeal of draconian laws and the restoration of civil and political rights of the Kashmiri people.
Meanwhile, President of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mehbooba Mufti, in a statement in Srinagar, denounced the Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party government for using passport as an instrument of suppression against dissenting voices.
Mufti's remarks followed the deportation of British academic Nitasha Kaul from Bangalore airport the other day.
In a separate development, Gulf nations have enforced a ban on the Bollywood film 'Article 370,' despite Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's full support for the movie.
The film's ban reflects concerns over its propagandist portrayal of the UN-designated Kashmir dispute, aligning with the BJP's narrative while disregarding the ground realities of Jammu and Kashmir's political landscape.
On the other hand, the High Court of occupied Jammu and Kashmir has nullified detention orders against five Kashmiri youth under the Public Safety Act, ordering their immediate release from jail.
