Radio Pakistan starts special programmes for general elections

Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation launched a series of special programmes in connection with forthcoming general elections 2024 from today [Tuesday]

The special programme, namely "Elections City 2024" jointly produced by News and Current Affairs Channel and Programme Wing, was broadcast live at News and Current Affairs Channel from Islamabad.

Speaking in the programme, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi said that Radio Pakistan has a long history of providing timely and accurate information to the masses.

Appreciating the historical role of Radio Pakistan during all the previous and forthcoming general elections, he expressed the hope that all regional and local stations will also follow the National Hook-up Program and plan their transmission accordingly.

Speaking in the programme, Director General Elections, Election Commission of Pakistan, Syed Nadeem Haider said conducting elections is a massive exercise in which about one million election staff will be deputed in the entire country.

Lauding the role of Radio Pakistan, the DG Elections ECP, said Radio Pakistan has an edge over other medium of communication due to its access to the far flung areas of the country.

In his remarks, Spokesperson of the Election Commission of Pakistan Haroon Shinwari said registered voters can check their vote and polling station by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8300.         

Radio Pakistan will broadcast special program of the election transmission namely "Elections City 2024" from News and Current Affairs Channel daily at 4:05 pm.
