In Dera Ismail Khan, eleven people were martyred in a reportedly suicide blast on anti-smuggling ‘Aman Mela Police Checkpost’ in Darazinda area today.

According to sources, six police personnel, two customs officials, two women, and a two-year old child are among the martyrs in the blast which took place on D.I. Khan-Quetta Road.

The sources further said that more than thirty people, including police personnel, customs officials, and civilians, were injured in the explosion.

Some of the injured are in critical condition, which could increase the death toll.

The blast was extremely powerful after a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) rammed into the checkpost.

The attack on the anti-smuggling check post is clear evidence of a nexus between terrorists and criminal elements.

The sources further said that local residents are expressing their intense anger and anxiety over the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government's indifference and impassiveness from the issue of terrorism.

The security forces have reached the spot. The entire area has been cordoned off and a search operation has been launched.
