President Asif Ali Zardari has felicitated Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the people of Maldives on their country's Independence Day.

In a message, he highlighted the special significance of this year's Independence Day as it also marks the 61st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the Maldives.

The President noted that this important milestone reflects more than six decades of enduring friendship, mutual trust and close cooperation between the two countries.

He said Pakistan attaches great importance to its fraternal relations with the Maldives.

He expressed confidence that the bond of friendship will continue to grow stronger, further enhancing mutually beneficial cooperation and contributing to peace, progress and prosperity of the people of both nations.
