Pakistan and Kazakhstan have agreed to establish the Kazakhstan-Pakistan Research Centre at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to strengthen cooperation in higher education, scientific research, and innovation.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training Wajiha Qamar and Chairman of the Management Board and Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Professor Zhanseit Tuimebayev, in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The proposed centre will serve as a platform for joint research projects, academic exchanges, innovation initiatives, and stronger institutional links between universities of both countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Wajiha Qamar highlighted Pakistan's progress in artificial intelligence, information technology, digital innovation, and emerging technologies.

She also invited the university's leadership and faculty to visit Pakistan to explore partnerships with Pakistani institutions.

Professor Zhanseit Tuimebayev welcomed the initiative, saying the centre would further enhance academic mobility, joint research, and long-term scientific cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides also agreed to develop a roadmap for the phased implementation of the initiative, reaffirming their commitment to advancing educational ties, research excellence, and innovation-driven cooperation.
