Ramazan Relief Package 2026 formally launched: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says Ramazan Relief Package 2026 has been formally launched with an allocation of 38 billion rupees.

He was chairing a review meeting on implementation of the Prime Minister Ramazan Package, 2026 in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister said the financial assistance has been increased from 5,000 rupees last year to 13,000 rupees per beneficiary to provide greater support to deserving families during Ramazan.

He described it as the largest and most comprehensive Ramazan relief package in the country's history.

Shehbaz Sharif further said building on last year's successful experience, the distribution of funds under the 2026 package is also being carried out through a transparent digital system. He added that financial assistance is being transferred directly to beneficiaries through digital wallets.

The Prime Minister commended the performance of all relevant institutions involved in implementing the package. He said the provision of funds through digital wallets ensures a highly transparent and convenient system, saving people from long queues and upholding their dignity.

The meeting was briefed on the progress of the PM Ramazan Relief Package 2026. It was informed that by the 8th of Ramazan, 64 percent of the beneficiaries had received their payments, while the verification and disbursement process for the remaining beneficiaries is progressing swiftly.

The briefing highlighted that twelve banks and financial technology companies are partnering with the government this year for the distribution of funds. Beneficiaries have so far carried out 1.1 million digital transactions under the package. More than 1.2 million automated robo-calls have been made to raise awareness among beneficiaries.

The meeting was told that the PM Ramazan Package covers the entire country, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. It was noted that digital wallets represent a major milestone in establishing a data-driven financial system. Transparency is being ensured through real-time dashboards providing updates on payments.

It was said that a comprehensive awareness campaign regarding the PM Ramzan Package is also being conducted through print, electronic and social media.
