In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities barred thousands of Kashmiris from Shab-e-Baraat prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar in blatant violation of their religious rights.

The gates of mosque were locked which triggered strong protests from the local community.

The authorities also placed senior All Parties Hurryat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest, on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the human rights situation in the territory remains bleak as Indian army and paramilitary personnel arbitrarily arrested over a dozen Kashmiri youth during ongoing cordon and search operations.

The crackdowns launched by Indian troops in Kulgam, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Rajouri districts are part of systematic suppression of legitimate demand of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination.

UK-based Kashmiri Pandit academic, Professor Nitasha Kaul, was denied entry into India and was subsequently deported from Bengaluru airport.

Nitasha Kaul, who is a professor at the University of Westminster was deported despite possessing valid documents as she is a strong critic of Hindutva policies of the RSS-backed Modi government.
