Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and world over observed India's Republic Day, as Black Day today to remind the world that New Delhi's continued denial of right to self-determination to the Kashmiri people is contrary to its claim of being a democratic republic.              

Call for observance of the day was given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other pro-freedom organizations.

A complete shutdown was observed in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir to show the world that India’s claim of being a democratic country is completely misleading                     

APHC leaders in their statements in Srinagar said India has no right to celebrate its Republic Day in Jammu and Kashmir as it has illegally occupied the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people.           

They appealed the international community to pressure India to grant Kashmiris their right to self-determination.

The APHC-Azad Kashmir chapter also organized a protest rally in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad today. 

In Brussels, a peaceful protest demonstration was held in front of the Indian Embassy to mark India's Republic Day as a Black Day.   

Despite rain and bad weather, a large number of Kashmiris and their sympathizers participated in the demonstration.
