The incarcerated senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, has said that India is trying to mislead the world and befool ordinary Indian people about the ground situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The statement of the senior APHC leader came after recent remarks of the Indian Army’s Northern Commander, Lt General Upendra Dwivedi, claiming that there is a perceptible improvement in the situation of Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370.

He said the statement about normalcy in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is self-deception and blatant lie.

The Convener of APHC-AJK chapter, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, in a statement in Islamabad said Indian troops have stepped up their atrocities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and are killing innocent youth during the so-called cordon and search operations.

Another APHC-AJK leader, Altaf Hussain Wani, in his statement demanded independent probe into the incidents of extra-judicial killings of Kashmiri youth in the occupied territory.

On the other hand, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom in its latest report maintained that religious freedom and related human rights in India are under jeopardy, and government policies do not safeguard the religious minorities.

It said during the current year, the Indian government continued to promote and enforce policies that negatively affected Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Dalits, and Adivasis.
