Advisor to Pakistan's National Command Authority, Retired Lieutenant General Mazhar Jamil, has said India’s politics based on the Hindutva ideology is contributing to unrest in the region.
He was addressing a seminar in London held under the auspices of International Institute for Strategic Studies.
The Advisor said India’s aggressive military posture and rapid expansion of its nuclear capabilities pose a threat to strategic stability in South Asia.
He said Indian aggression during the May 2025 crisis brought South Asia to the brink of nuclear catastrophe. He said that Pakistan adopted a responsible approach and refrained from further escalating tensions after effectively responding to Indian aggression.
The Advisor said Pakistan’s policy is clear that any aggressor will have to pay a heavy price.
Mazhar Jamil said Pakistan’s nuclear and full-spectrum deterrence capabilities are a vital pillar for maintaining strategic balance in the region.
He stressed that the Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
