Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said the KP Police Act, 2026, passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, is in contravention of the Constitution of Pakistan and the rules governing Police Service of Pakistan.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he said the proposed law, which will be presented before the provincial assembly, would undermine the command structure of the police force.

He said the PTI founding chairman used to lecture on depoliticizing institutions but the proposed law is aimed at politicizing the police department in the province.

Talal Chaudhry clarified that provinces do not have absolute legislative powers and cannot amend the rules governing the Police Service of Pakistan.

He regretted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government did not invest in equipping the police force with modern gadgets and equipment.

Responding to a question about the PTI's call for a long march, the Minister of State said all routes to the federal capital are open. However, he made it clear that Islamabad High Court's decision would be implemented in letter and spirit to protect the lives and property of the people.
