Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Foreign Minister of the Maldives, Iruthisham Adam, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two sides reviewed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction at the positive momentum in Pakistan-Maldives ties.

Highlighting the importance of sustained high-level engagement, they agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, connectivity, economic relations, business-to-business linkages, academia and defence.

The two sides also emphasized greater cooperation at the multilateral level, including the UN, OIC and SAARC, and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely on issues of mutual interest.

The Maldivian Foreign Minister underscored the importance her country attaches to further strengthening its longstanding relations with Pakistan.
