Russia and Ukraine have agreed to restore a 2020 ceasefire deal in eastern Ukraine.

In a statement, Ukrainian presidential chief of staff Andriy Yermak expressed hope the coming holidays should be peaceful.

The agreement brokered by Organisation of Security and Cooperation of Europe coincides with heightened tensions in the region.
