Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated the importance Pakistan attaches to its historically close and fraternal ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During a meeting with Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency Dr. Denis Becirovic in New York, he reaffirmed his desire to elevate these relations into a robust, broad-based partnership anchored in trade and economic cooperation.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan's strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia & Herzegovina and stressed that regional stability depended on a strong, stable and prosperous Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan viewed Bosnia & Herzegovina as a potential regional trade and connectivity hub for Pakistani goods entering European and Western Balkan markets.

Dr Becirovic praised Pakistan's mediation role in facilitating de-escalation and normalization in  West Asia and the Gulf region. He also fully supported Pakistan's position on illegality of holding Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.

The two sides reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including political, economic, defence, skilled labour mobility, education and cultural spheres, and held a frank exchange of views on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
