The Sindh Government has launched a major initiative to restore and protect the Indus Delta, boosting environmental conservation and supporting coastal communities.
Our Karachi Correspondent Faheem-ur-Rehman reports that under a public-private partnership between the Sindh Forest Department and Indus Delta Capital, the project will restore and protect mangrove forests across 350,000 hectares.
The mangroves will help protect coastal areas from erosion and storms, provide breeding grounds for fish and shrimp, and support the livelihoods of local fishing communities.
The initiative will also contribute to climate change mitigation and carbon credit generation.
