A new wave of extreme heat has been predicted in different areas across the country in the next few days.
Director of the Meteorological Department, Irfan Virk, has said that most parts of the country may be gripped by extreme heat from Monday to the end of May.
According to Irfan Virk, the temperature is likely to be 5 to 7 degrees Celsius higher than normal in various areas of central Punjab, southern Punjab, Sindh, southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, due to which the intensity of the heatwave is expected to increase.
He said that due to extreme heat, there is a possibility of glacier melting and increased water flow in rivers, so the relevant institutions also need to remain cautious.
