The 47th death anniversary of founder of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and a prolific author Maulana Syed Abul Ala Maududi is being observed today.

Maulana Maududi served the country as a journalist, politician and philosopher and he was one of the greatest Islamic scholars of 20th century.

He died on this day in 1979.
