Amb. Ghulam Rasool Baloch (Former Diplomat):  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived to attend the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly Session in New York. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also hold bilateral meetings with various world leaders on the sidelines of UNGA. Actually, the 81st United Nations General Assembly Session is very important because it is taking place at a very crucial time as two major wars are underway in West Asia and Europe. Additionally, there are numerous challenges confronted by the world including the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and managing AI by placing under the ambit of United Nations. Climate Change is yet another challenge and we have witnessed devastations in Nepal recently. However, from Pakistan’s perspective, I think that in his address to UNGA, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will highlight Kashmir issue, Indian grave human rights violations in IIOJK, Indian sponsored and Afghanistan abetted terrorism inside Pakistan. Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his meetings with world leaders will also press on promoting bilateral economic and strategic cooperation with regional countries and blocs. Pakistan will also try to play mediatory role to de-escalate situation between Yemen and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan has already played key successful diplomatic role in bringing Iran and the US to negotiation table. Pakistan’s robust diplomacy won global laurels as Pakistan got Islamabad accord signed by the US and Iran. Moreover, serious global energy crisis is hitting the developing and developed countries at the same time. Therefore, the US and Iran must end hostilities to give a sigh of relief to the world. Global economies are suffering due to Iran and the US hostilities and this conflict may expand to other regions. In this regard, apart from Pakistan, rest of the world needs to step forward to ensure peace deal between Iran and the US.
