First Pakistani Astronaut Namira Salim will make spaceflight history next month.
She will become the first Pakistani to reach space on Virgin Galactic's next mission, called "Galactic 04," which is scheduled to launch from New Mexico's Spaceport America on fifth of next month.
A few days back, Namira Salim also held a meeting with Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi in Islamabad and apprised him about her preparations for the space journey.
Murtaza Solangi termed Namira's journey a symbol of Pakistan's growing presence in space exploration. On the occasion, Namira Salim expressed resolve to hoist Pakistan's flag on space.
Namira's space journey will improve Pakistan's positive and progressive image in the outside world.
Namira is also the first Pakistani to have reached the North Pole and the South Pole. She also holds the distinction of being the first Muslim and first Pakistani to skydive over Mount Everest during the historic 'First Everest Skydives 2008'.
On 23 March 2011, former President Asif Ali Zardari conferred on Namira Salim the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for achievement in sport, including her trips to the poles and the Everest skydiving event.
