August 22, 2026

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said the administration fully implemented the Supreme Court's order regarding the medical checkup of the PTI founder.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today [Saturday], he said the PTI founder underwent medical examination in accordance with the court's order, while his sister also remained present and all relevant requirements were fulfilled.

Attaullah Tarar said the administration fully complied with the court's directions and kept the nation informed of the facts transparently.

He said the PTI is spreading false propaganda over the health issue of the PTI founder. He said the government has consistently maintained that health issues should not be politicized. He urged the PTI to refrain from politicizing legal and health matters.

The Information Minister said the statements made by the PTI founder regarding the health of others during his tenure in power were well known.

He said the government has raised questions in its review petition about ensuring equal facilities for all prisoners and whether any special treatment should be provided.

Attaullah Tarar questioned who politicized the matter by gathering people outside Shifa International Hospital, creating security concerns and issuing political statements despite the court's direction against organizing any political activity around the hospital.

He said legal issues and health matters should be dealt with separately, adding that doctors are the best persons to assess the PTI founder's medical condition.

He said the government had never stopped the PTI founder's treatment and would continue to provide medical care whenever required.

The Information Minister welcomed the statements by the Pakistan Bar Council and Punjab Bar Council distancing themselves from statements issued by some members in their individual capacities, saying bar platforms should not be used for political purposes.
