Amb. Masood Khalid (Former Diplomat):  Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts have won marvelous success at in Switzerland talks. Pakistan maintained utmost secrecy and upheld trust of both the sides throughout mediatory diplomacy. Our Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and other leaders visited Teran while top leadership also remained in touch with global leaders. Agreement at Switzerland talks Pakistan’s great diplomatic achievement and it will start producing positive dividedness soon. However resolution of some issues like reconstruction of Iran and payment of frozen assets will take some time. Now next process for the implementation of agreement will test will and commitment of both the parties for peace. It is positive sign that both Iran and the US want to wrap up tension and to avoid future conflict. There may be some sort of breaks but ultimately both will overcome differences. It is welcoming development that the US Treasury announces authorization of 60-day general license for Iranian oil production, delivery, and sale in line with ongoing productive talks in Switzerland. I think that it is a remarkable positive gesture from the US which shows that the US wants to move forward to defuse tension with Iran. Pak-Iran gas pipeline project may also move forward in coming times.

Dr. Manzoor Afridi (IR Expert):Agreement between Iran and the US at Switzerland is a great achievement of Pakistan’s diplomacy and mediation because war could engulf entire Mideast and may spread over to other countries too. Pakistan played major mediatory role in between the US and Iran and played role of a bridge. Whole world has hailed Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts and mediatory role. Now both sides have made enormous progress at Switzerland talks. Iran strongly protested against Israeli attacks on Lebanon and irrational statements by US President Donald Trump so Israel, US must rethink before issuing any statement as well as avoid sabotaging peace process. Pakistan followed a balanced foreign policy and kept a balanced policy between US Iran. Pakistan exercised smart diplomatic policy and strategy. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is paying an important visit to Pakistan and both will discuss future course of action for regional peace
