Egyptian Grand Mufti Shawki Ibrahim says Islam is a religion of peace and security.

He was addressing the International Conference on the Promotion of Religious Tolerance in the light of seerat of Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W) in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Grand Mufti of Egypt said as a Muslim, we have responsibility to play our due role for the betterment and prosperity of society and the entire world.

He said a wrong narrative is being promoted about Islam in these days and there is need to highlight the enlightened face of the Islam through rejecting all misperceptions about it and adopting a good character to provide right guidance to the people.

The Grand Mufti said the terrorists are spreading their nefarious designs through using social media and internet as a tool so we have to evolve an efficient strategy in view of these threats.

Grand Mufti Shawki Ibrahim said Egypt has rendered great sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

In his address, Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf termed the collective narrative of Paigham-e-Pakistan as a big achievement.

He said his ministry has taken several measures for promotion of tolerance and significant achievements have also been made in this regard.

Expressing his views, Minister of State for Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Pir Muhammad Amin Ul Hasnat Shah said tolerance is dire need of the hour to make world a cradle of peace and security.

On the occasion, National Security Advisor (Retd) Lt. General Nasir Khan Janjua said that all the Muslim countries will have to be united to foil the conspiracies of elements inimical to peace.

Different religious scholars, Ulema and Mashaikh also addressed on the occasion and highlighted various aspects about the promotion of religious tolerance in the light of Seerat of Holy Prophet (S.A.W).
