Analysts strongly condemn abhorrable act of desecration of the Holy Quran by extremist in Sweden
January 22, 2023

Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Chairman Islamic Ideology Council:This move has hurt the sentiments of the 1.5 billion-strong Muslim community across the globe. Such actions are not covered under any legitimate expression of the right to freedom of expression or opinion, which carries responsibilities under international human rights law, such as the obligation not to carry out hate speech and incite people to violence. The Muslim community should get united in western countries and raise voice against such horrible incidents. As Muslims in western countries have a large vote bank, and by using it, they can vote to those parties or individuals, who do not have hateful sentiments against Islam.

Maulana Tahir Ashrafi , Special Assistant to Prime Minister

The tragic incident of Islamophobia in Sweden is highly condemnable. Such incidents can be stopped by forging unity in the Muslim Ummah. The union would help contain Islamophobia and resolve the issues confronting the Muslim Ummah on the global level. Muslim countries should announce economic boycott of such countries where such heinous incidents happen against Islam and force them to mend their ways.  International community should  show a common resolve against Islamophobia, xenophobia, intolerance and incitement to violence on the basis of religion or belief, and work together to promote inter-faith  harmony and peaceful coexistence. We urge them to be mindful of the sentiments of the people of Pakistan and the Muslims worldwide and take steps to prevent Islamophobic acts.
