July 21, 2026

Pakistan and UN Women have decided to further strengthen their longstanding partnership in advancing women's rights, gender equality, and the empowerment of women and girls.

The decision was made in a meeting between Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar and Chief of Staff to the Executive Director of UN Women Mohammad Naciri in Islamabad.

Azam Nazeer Tarar appreciated UN Women's continued partnership with Pakistan and highlighted the Ministry of Human Rights' close collaboration with the organization in promoting gender equality, improving access to justice, and advancing policies that safeguard the rights of women and girls.

He emphasized the government's commitment to finalizing a comprehensive national policy framework to strengthen prevention, protection, and response mechanisms for women and girls.

The two sides also discussed the forthcoming SAARC Conference, recognizing its significance as a regional platform for promoting cooperation on gender equality, women's rights, and inclusive development across South Asia.
