In Afghanistan, the Afghan Taliban's repressive style of governance has further exposed its extremist face to the world.

According to the Afghan newspaper Hasht-e Subh, Head of Afghanistan's Mission to the UN, Naseer Ahmad Faiq, said the Taliban's policies are contrary to the principles of justice.

In a post on social media platform X, Naseer Ahmad Faiq said the Taliban subject women detained under the pretext of enforcing the veil to physical abuse.

UN Special Rapporteur Richard Bennett said the Taliban continue to carry out inhumane practices, including persecution and oppression based on gender.
