
Radio Pakistan and National Highways and Motorway Police have agreed in principle on a broad-based Memorandum of Understanding aimed at promoting traffic awareness and enhancing public education on road safety.
The understanding was reached during a meeting in Islamabad today which was attended by Director General Radio Pakistan Saeed Ahmed Shaikh and Assistant to the IG National Highways and Motorway Police Syed Ali Asif, along with their resective teams.
The development is being undertaken in line with special directives of Inspector General of National Highways and Motorway Police Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, with the objective of promoting safe travel on national highways and motorways and increasing public awareness of traffic rules.
Under the cooperation, safety- and awareness-oriented content for drivers and the travelling public on national highways and motorways will be broadcast through the platforms of Radio Pakistan and the National Highways and Motorway Police in Urdu as well as various regional languages.
The initiative aims to promote awareness of traffic regulations and help reduce road accidents.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on various aspects of mutual cooperation, and it was agreed that, after the completion of initial formalities, a comprehensive and formal Memorandum of Understanding will be signed.
Both institutions termed collaboration an important step towards promoting road safety at the national level, encouraging responsible driving behaviour, and enhancing public awareness.
